Ayer fui a Londres a ver el primer concierto de la gira europea de Foreigner. El sitio donde se iba a celebrar no podía haberse elegido mejor, el London Palladium ,al lado de Oxford Street, un teatro recogido, con mucha más capacidad de la que esperaba, buena acústica y con un gran escenario que hizo posible el despliegue de energía de la banda.
Foreigner ya lleva este año a sus espaldas un buen número de conciertos en América y nadie lo diría viéndolos actuar en el inicio del tour por Europa. La gira se llama 40 aniversario 2016-2017 y en ella vuelven a mostrar que el rock clásico , en especial el AOR está más vivo que nunca, y en gran parte gracias a ellos.
Si todavía a estas alturas, después de más de una década de la recomposición del grupo ( exactamente 12 años, como puntualizaba a Mick Jones Kelly Hansen) hay algún seguidor de la banda que no va a los conciertos por que ya no es posible disfrutar del binomio Jones-Gramm está totalmente equivocado, Foreigner suena compacto, suena bien, interpretan las canciones a la perfección y con la chispa renovada de los miembros que se han ido añadiendo en estos años y que han conseguido hacer una banda en la que no distorsiona nada. Imposible disfrutar de Foreigner y su música sentada.

Como anécdota y aunque parezca increíble, Kelly Hansen se comió la mitad de la canción I Want to Know Wat Love is, mientras estaba allí,por la emoción no me di cuenta, pero luego pensando...me di cuenta que había empezado por la estrofa final y al liarse con ella no la cantó bien, cosas del directo.
Mick Jones actuó en este concierto de principio a fin, un lujo para los que le reconocemos como uno de los los más grandes del rock que ha ido poniendo sus granos de arena a lo largo de los años para que esta música sea mejor.
